Specialised and vocational education

Examples of specialized and vocational schools applying Slow Food values in the Nordic Countries:

Copenhagen Hospitality College

Copenhagen Hospitality College is one of the largest educational institutions in Northern Europe educating within craftsmanship regarding food, service and hospitality. The school educates chefs, waiters, receptionists and other crafts within the restaurant-, kitchen- and service industry, while aiming at being 100% organic, reducing food waste, growing an urban agricultural plot of land and working with local small-scale, high quality producers. The aim is to teach and act sustainability in everything the school does to help future generations of employees and the industry as a whole in that direction, from Michelin to public kitchens and anything in between.

Suhrs Højskole

Suhrs Højskole is a folk high school in the centre of Copenhagen – we care about food, sustainability, culture, gastronomy, health and good ingredients. The students who enrol for up to six months learn all there is to know about the food system and its complexity, while learning to deal with these challenges one home-cooked meal at a time.

Perho Culinary, Tourism & Business College

Perho educates qualified and multi-skilled service professionals in a borderless and digitalized learning environment, which also promotes sustainable development, internationality, wellness and entrepreneurship.

Sustainable creativity – At Hallormsstaðaskóli we aim to empower our students by equipping them with the tools to reassert their independence and autonomy and thus have the ability to create their own lives – independent of the tossing and turning of the world around them. This, we believe, is the best way to get control over one’s own life – and at the same time – one’s impact on the natural world. This is the best way towards sustainability.
