Slow Food believes that wine, just as with food, must be good, clean, and fair — not just good.
The Slow Wine Coalition is an international network bringing together all those involved in the world of wine: winemakers, journalists, supply chain professionals, but also simply wine lovers individuals. The name ‘Coalition’ suggests the intention: united, together, to overcome the great challenges of the future of wine. Thanks to good, clean and fair wine, we can help change the agricultural system by combining environmental sustainability, landscape protection and the cultural and social growth of the inhabitants of the land dedicated to growing vines.
Wine is an agricultural product, just like any of the foods we eat, and has an impact on the lives of the people who produce it, as well as on the environment – through pesticides, herbicides and excessive water consumption which are all commonplace in conventional wine production.

Another opportunity to develop this work is the collaboration with Bologna Fiere (already the promoter of SANA, the most important organic agriculture event in Italy), with a view to the Slow Wine Fair to be held in Bologna from February 26 to March 2, 2022, which will also be the first opportunity for the network to meet at a global level https://slowinefair.slowfood.it/en/
