Terra Madre Nordic will take place in Vesterålen, northern Norway, from April 10 to 12, 2026. Welcome to join the planning group!
Terra Madre Nordic will feature a vibrant market of Nordic artisanal food producers, along with workshops, masterclasses, seminars, and public discussions on sustainable consumption and resilient food systems.
This year’s focus will be on Sámi food culture and traditions, spotlighting the unique challenges and opportunities in producing food both on land and in the surrounding seas.
“For Terra Madre Nordic to take place in the North of our region is a unique situation – here we are surrounded by the sea and the Sámi food culture. I am looking forward to exploring this part of our beautiful region and to meeting the people behind the food produced in the very North, says Jannie Vestergaard, chair of Slow Food in the Nordic Countries.

Andreas Aspevold, treasurer of Slow Food in the Nordic Countries, highlights seasonality, diversity, and celebration of the Sámi food culture as the foundations of Terra Madre Nordic 2026.
“The chance to meet as food lovers in an Arctic environment in the middle of the birth ground of the Arctic cod is unique. Through workshops and masterclasses, we can display the rich and diverse food systems guided by the yearly seasons,” says Aspevold.
An Event for Shared Knowledge and inspiration
Terra Madre Nordic has been postponed from October 2025 to spring 2026, as additional time is required to ensure everything is in place, including all necessary resources. The event will offer masterclasses, workshops, tastings, seminars, a local food market, and much more.
“We will learn about how our different Nordic food cultures can inspire each other and strengthen our Nordic community. I believe Terra Madre Nordic will give our Nordic Slow Food community and our policy makers inspiration on how the Nordic region can contribute to repairing and transforming our global food systems,” says Vestergaard.
“I think participation in Terra Madre Nordic will be a truly magical moment that will give you knowledge and new friends for a lifetime. Who knows, maybe there will also be a visit from the Aurora Borealis if the conditions are right,” adds Aspevold.
