Workshops & Slow Food Farms in Finland

Slow Food Västnyland has launched the dates for the annual Slow Food Festival during harvest time, this year, the 3rd to 4th October in Billnäs bruk in Raseborg. This year marks the 15th edition of the festival, celebrating good, clean and fair food in the region. The group also organizes a workshop and communal lunch on vegetarian spring dishes in May – check it out here.

Slow Food Helsinki is expanding the network of Slow Food Farms in Finland. Already, seven farms have joined the initiative that gathers agroecological farmers across the world. Find more information about the Finnish Slow Food Farms and learn about the network here.

 

Growing Together, Farm Visits, and Soil Knowledge in Sweden

Slow Food Stockholm takes curious growers on a beanventure this spring, inviting members and others interested in growing food, composting, and cooking with beans to join. At the heart of the project is the  Borlotti bean Lingua Fuoco 2. Through growing, cooking, and sharing knowledge, the initiative creates connections and teaches children how to grow beans and use them in cooking. Slow Food Gästrikland and Uppsala ventures out on two farm visits this April, exploring Mathas Gård in Hedesunda and Ängsholmens Gårdsmejeri in Harbo (learn more in this article). On May 20th, the group invites the public to an open Slow Food Spring Market in Gävle, featuring seasonal vegetables, local products, and a great opportunity to learn more about the Slow Food movement.

Slow Food Trips and Tørrfisk on the Agenda in Norway

This spring, Slow Food Bergen has an array of activities for members and others interested, including a course on wild foraging and a workshop on baking traditional Norwegian flatbrød. Follow Slow Food Bergen on Instagram and Facebook for all the upcoming events and how to register. The group is also expanding the Slow Food Farms network in Norway, having welcomed the first farm to join: Torheim Gard in Hjelledalen.

Slow Food Mearra-Sápmi is the most recent convivium to join the Slow Food network in the Nordics. The main goal for the group is to strengthen and share Sea Sami food culture and food-related cultural heritage in Sea Sami areas – from Finnmark to Central Norway. A special focus is on stockfish (tørrfisk). The initiative, in collaboration with Slow Food Bergen and Bivdu, aims to include stockfish on the UNESCO Word Heritage List.

Slow Food Farm Visits and Disco Soup

 

This spring, Slow Food Danmark visits a few of the fifteen Slow Food Farms across the country and get together for communal meals. For details on all the upcoming events, check the website and register for the newsletter, available in Danish and English.

During World Disco Soup Day, the Slow Food Youth Network Copenhagen gets together at Byens Hus in Hellerup to cook, party, and fight food waste together – learn more about the event here.

 

 

 

Slow Food Tour to Snaefellsnes

The Slow Food Icelandic network joins forces with Crisscross to offer a Slow Food tour to the Snaefellsnes peninsula. The trip offers a unique chance to meet small-scale farmers and food producers in the region, taste local delicacies, and enjoy meals aligned with Slow Food values.
