For four days, 40+ delegates from all Nordic countries are attending talks, workshops, tastings, and, most importantly, networking with other farmers, fishers, cooks, activists, academics, youth groups, and policymakers from 125 countries.
The main theme for this year’s edition of the event is Be Diversity – Biodiversity. As president of Slow Food International, Edward Mukiibi said during the opening ceremony, where Italian President Sergio Mattarella attended:
“We are here because the world needs our collective voice. We are here to reject hunger, injustice, nationalism, war, and the destruction of biodiversity. We are here to affirm a different vision. A vision rooted in communities, solidarity, and care for the Earth.”
At Terra Madre, the collective work for good, clean, and fair food across Slow Food communities worldwide is reinforced through meetings and connections. The first day continued with talks, workshops, and tastings for the Nordic delegates, highlighted by the opening of the Stockfish Journey exhibition, a collaboration between Slow Food á Íslandi, Slow Food Bergen, Slow Food Mearra-Sápmi, and Kålrotsakademien.
